Chopard and Mille Miglia have been in love for over 30 years For 30 years, the hearts of Chopard and Mille Miglia have been beating, echoing a shared love of fine mechanics and performance, born of a personal passion for classic cars. Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Schaefer. He is both a connoisseur of collector cars and an excellent driver. For the past 30 years, he has been honing his skills driving the most prestigious classic cars, which he drives in prestigious races every year. This inseparable bond began in 1988, when Chopard became the partner and official timekeeper of Mille Miglia, and inspired the eponymous watch collection launched in the same year. The prestigious annual endurance rally sees more than 400 historic cars traversing a fascinating thousand-mile route from Brescia to Rome and back. This legendary competition gave birth to iconic cheap luxury watches bearing the Chopard logo.
The national colors of racing cars first appeared in the 1910s. To identify the nationality of the participating drivers, each country is assigned a color. The bright red Rosso Corsa for the Italians, British racing green for the UK, off-white for the German “Silver Arrow”, yellow for the Belgian flag, and finally blue for the French Bugattis and Talbots. This provides a valuable explanation behind the historical coloration of various speed machines. The fact that Ferrari is red and Aston Martin is green is no coincidence, but stems from the earliest great races, of which the Mille Miglia was one of the most popular.
Available in five different colors, the collection is an opportunity for Maison’s unconditional fans to buy a collector’s model and match their clothing to one of the dials…or to the body of their car. An original way of merging two consuming and often shared passions for fine watchmaking and historic racing.
The new Mille Miglia Racing Colors symbolize the owner’s true passion for racing and classic cars: a passion that a true gentleman driver will never give up.
