A new Luminor formed from a new composite material based on basalt fiber.

Panerai’s “Laboratorio de Idee” has always been a platform for exploring and innovating materials, and has now become the brand’s professional field. The newest member of the high-tech material portfolio is Fibratech, which is made of mineral fibers produced by the fusion of basalt. Meet Panerai Luminor Marina Fibratech PAM01163.

Fibratech is a composite material based on basalt fiber. The thin layers are superimposed in precise directions and then reinforced by a process of controlling pressure and temperature. The matrix that binds this reinforcing material together is a polymer. This produces a non-uniform matte gray appearance with random patterns according to the cut. From a technical point of view, Fribatech is 60% lighter than steel, elastic and highly resistant to corrosion. Suitable material for such a big dive watch.

PAM01663 is Panerai’s first watch to use Fibratech, combining this new material with the brand’s proprietary high-tech carbon com posite material. Carbotech is used to manufacture the bezel, crown and its locking lever. The bottom cover is made of micro-sandblasted titanium. The 44mm case is water resistant to 30 ATM or 300 meters.

The watch is equipped with Luminor’s iconic sandwich dial, gradient blue with Arabic numerals and white Super-LumiNova-green luminous hour markers. The movement is the self-winding self-winding movement P.9010. This large double-winding movement can store a power reserve of 3 days after being fully wound. It consists of 200 components including 31 jewels and displays the hours, minutes, small seconds and date.

PAM01663 is equipped with Panerai Sportech strap, which is a woven material with a waterproof rubber effect. Blue with white stitching, with DLC-coated titanium alloy trapezoidal pin buckle. A second blue rubber strap and a screwdriver for removing the buckle are also provided.
